Susanne Torgerson Biography

I graduated from Belgrade High School, Belgrade, MN. I then attended Augsburg College and Fairview Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis. My first job in the nursing field was at Veterans Administration Medical Center in Minneapolis. I worked in the Urology department.

I then met Rick Torgerson from Henning and moved “up North”.

I worked at Lake Region Healthcare Corporation in Obstetrics and Surgical floors. A fulltime job opportunity arose in Henning at the Henning Healthcare Center, where I worked 17 years as Staff Development, Assisted Director of Nursing, Charge Nurse and Resident Care Coordinator/Medicare Nurse. Henning EDA launched the Willow Creek Sr. Community project, and I applied for the manager position.

I have enjoyed this type of work, and have learned to wear many hats. It is heart-warming to see tenants be independent in their own apartments, or needing very little help. The tenants seem to thrive in this setting. I have 2 boys, Dustin is attending North Dakota State University majoring in Mechanical Engineering, and Zach is attending Henning High School.

In my spare time I love to scrapbook, camp, go boating (tubing, the boys, not me! I’m the spotter), and read. I also attend all of Zach’s extra-curricular activities (football, basketball, baseball, and music programs) That keeps me very busy also!
